AI & Code · https://nodemusic.cc/node/jitter

## Summary

Max learned to see. Jitter allowed video processing as easily as sound. Electronic musicians became audiovisual artists.

## Full text

The Jitter extension added video processing capabilities to the Max environment. The video stream became the same set of numbers as audio. This allowed musicians to synchronize sound and image with mathematical precision.

Thus were born modern audiovisual performances (AV), where sound generates graphics, or vice versa. Jitter democratized media art, allowing one person on a laptop to create a show that previously required an entire video studio.
